South Asia is bound by a code of conduct where guests are equated to God, with a famous Sanskrit saying “Atithi Devo Bhava.” Nepalis especially, are known in the world for their openness, warmth, and their genuine smile with which they welcome guest into their homes.
The Nepali Ghar is a hand-crafted experience envisioned by the founder Mr. Raju Shrestha, who seeks to invite every guest into his Nepali Ghar, and help them feel the warmth of Nepali hospitality, as if they were visiting someone’s personal abode. The property boasts of beautiful Nepali architecture and is an ode to the traditional wood carving skills of the communities innate to Kathmandu valley. Each piece of furniture is a statement piece, reflecting hundreds of years of knowledge in wood carpentry, seamlessly blended with the comforts of the modern world. Safety is of the utmost importance to us, and we have set protocols around fire and other emergencies. The property is equipped with a Fitness Center, High-Speed Wi-Fi, Executive Meeting Rooms, All-Day Dining, Room Service, an oasis of a Terrace Garden, and a luxurious bed for a restful night’s sleep after a long day of work or travel.
"I came to Nepal to climb Everest. It was complicated season because of the covid, staying at Nepali Ghar made the trip… the guys took so good care of us always positive, helpful and optimistic! After staying there for couple of weeks at a time it didn’t feel like being on a travel, but staying with friends and family. Highly recommended!"
"This is a truly quaint hotel within Thamel. Character oozed! The right location as just 5-10mins walk to the noisy hearty part of Thamel. Food at breakfast was good and filling and self service tea, coffee and juice is available all day in the lobby. The room was spacious, clean but the WiFi continually drips out. Security staff stand at the hotel gate entrance but speak no English."
"Spent two weeks back in February, beautiful hotel and very accommodating staff. I have rarely seen such beautiful woodwork in a new, modern building and the hotel is well located on the edge of Themel, the life blood of Kathmandu. Highly recommend."

I stayed at the Nepali Ghar for 10 days in February 2020 whilst visiting my son. My room was my sanctuary after my daily adventures - it was clean, spacious and the shower luxurious! Great laundry service too. All the staff were friendly, helpful and very efficient. The hotel is in a great location and on entering is instantly calming from the boisterous Thamel. The smell from the lemongrass diffuser will live in my memory for a long time! Would definitely recommend.
"Nice boutique hotel In the neighbourhood of Thames, walking distant to lots of eateries & shops. Accidentally knocked the brass basin with my tooth brush and it sang like a singing bowl to my delight. Most hospitable hotel staff that insisted to arrange table for our briefing, lounge to relax, etc. The only set back was the noise pollution from the construction site next door that starts throwing their materials at 4:30am to 5:30am waking me up just when I was in my deepest sleep. Sound proofing between the rooms can be further improved too."

"We stayed at Nepali Ghar for 4 days and loved it. The room was spotless and had everything that we needed. It looked slightly smaller than the pictures but we were ultimately comfortable in the space. We never had an issue with hot water or heat during our stay during the Nepali winter."
"we booked this place for one night last minute! so so glad that we stayed here. The property is beautiful, its new and has great facilities. The Staff are very polite and helpful, they upgraded us to the suite and it was just fantastic! best way to end the trip. what sets this hotel apart is its quiet and yet very close to the hustle! Best Place to stay in Thamel!!"
